Why are you in college? If your answer is to “get an education” or “to find out what I want to do in life,” think again. The honest answer is you know you need a college degree to land a better job on your way to a successful career.
The degree can be a door opener and is not a guarantee of success. Ask your older friends.
A common misconception among students and their parents is colleges are very effective in “placing” students in the work force upon graduation. In reality, colleges are in the business of education, not job hunting. To their credit most colleges have set up placement offices to help students’ job hunting efforts. Their results, however, are mixed.
Regardless of your school’s placement office efforts, you are responsible for success or failure in your career. After investing many thousands of dollars in an education is it wise to not do everything possible to ensure you’re on the right track?
What’s in it for me?
Each student is unique. Accordingly, our coaching is easily adaptable to a student’s needs. Here are some typical areas of concern we’ve seen over the years:
- I’m not sure what I want to do with my career. Is there a good way to find out?
- Are there other career paths I could pursue?
- I think I know what I’d like to do, but should I get more education first?
- My resume seems OK, but I want someone to look it over for me.
- I know I need to network, but I’m not getting anywhere fast. Can I improve?
- I wonder about my interviewing skills. They seem OK, but that’s been for lesser jobs. Now it really counts.
- What are the rules of job hunting etiquette?
- I think I’ve landed a great job, but I don’t want to leave money on the table. Can you help with negotiating?
What does it cost?
- Our goal is to provide affordable, real-world coaching to meet the needs of our younger generation. Instead of multi-thousand dollar contracts, we bill our services on an hourly basis, keeping your costs to a minimum while providing the duration of service you deem necessary.
- We structure our packages in two primary ways.
- First, you could “pay as you go.” You’ll pay a slightly higher hourly rate, but have no future obligation beyond the hour of time you’ve purchased.
- Second, we offer retainer agreements of three, six or 12 months with each agreement allowing you the choice of one or two hours of consultation each month. The more hours you purchase, the lower your cost per hour. Since we bill one month in advance, you’d pay for your first month right away, then we’d bill your credit card each 30 days until your agreement has been fulfilled. You could elect to purchase additional hours at the same rate you’d been paying.
